I'm interested in machine learning, population coding in neural systems, and the neural mechanisms and implementation of vocal mimicry. Specifically I study the representation of sound in the auditory system of the Zebra Finch and am working towards a model of the vocalization sensorimotor loop using spiking recurrent networks trained using spike-timing dependent plasticity rules.
